Cycle Syncing Your Matcha Lattes

Cycle Syncing Your Matcha Lattes

As women, if we have the opportunity to cater our workouts, social lives, self-care practices and meals to the four hormonal phases of our cycle, then why not our morning Matcha as well? I don’t believe that there’s a better way to start any day than a homemade Matcha latte, and over the past few months, I’ve been experimenting with recipes that have made each morning of each different phase shine even brighter. My latte ingredients are inspired by the list of foods for your cycle provided by Alisa Vitti in Womancode.

For the following recipes, simply blend all of the ingredients in a high-speed blender and pour into a mug to enjoy. Topping Matcha with cinnamon is one of my favorite final touches!

For your follicular phase, when your hormones are at their lowest and you’re in your high-energy groove, adding flaxseed milk and pomegranate juice to your latte gives it a fruity creaminess while helping to support the body’s rise in estrogen as it prepares for ovulation.

Follicular Phase Matcha
½ teaspoon premium or ceremonial grade Matcha powder (I use Aiya)
¼ cup flaxseed milk (I use Good Karma’s)
1 scoop collagen peptides (I use Further Food’s Marine Collagen; 10% off with code RAE10)
1 teaspoon organic coconut butter (Artisana Coconut Butter is my favorite)
1 tablespoon unsweetened pomegranate juice or seeds
1 ½ cups hot water

For your ovulatory phase, when your hormones are starting to rise, you’re more in tune with your feminine side and are better able to express yourself and communicate. Adding coconut milk for an extra bit of fat can help create a positive environment for pregnancy, according to Dalene Barton-Schuster from Natural Fertility Info. Additionally, healthy fat can supply good, lasting energy!

Ovulatory Phase Matcha
½ teaspoon premium or ceremonial grade Matcha powder
¼ cup organic full-fat coconut milk
1 tablespoon organic coconut butter
½ vanilla bean
1 ½ cups hot water

For your luteal phase, when hormone levels are reaching their peak and you’re feeling less extroverted, spend some time in the morning checking in with yourself, journaling, meditating or organizing. Support your decreasing energy and increasing hormone levels by adding MCT oil and mint to your latte for brain power and improved digestion.

Luteal Phase Matcha
½ teaspoon premium or ceremonial grade Matcha powder
¼ cup organic full-fat coconut milk
1 Tablespoon organic coconut butter
5-6 fresh mint leaves
1 scoop collagen peptides
1 Tablespoon MCT oil (I prefer Bulletproof’s Brain Octane Oil)
1 ½ cups hot water

For your menstrual phase, when you might be craving everything sugary and fatty, give into a warm cup of Matcha that provides antioxidants, protein, healthy fat and inflammation-fighting properties with flaxseed milk, collagen peptides, coconut butter and cinnamon.

Menstrual Phase Matcha
½ teaspoon premium or ceremonial grade Matcha powder
¼ cup flaxseed milk
1 Tablespoon organic coconut butter
1 scoop collagen peptides
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 ½ cups hot water

You are a badass partly because of the uniqueness that your cycle brings to your life! Take advantage of each phase by becoming aware of what feeds your body and soul during the month!
